What is the position of the hands (open or closed) when rising from prostration to the second rak'ah after the sitting of rest?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The jurists differed on what is most virtuous when rising from prostration. The Hanafis and Hanbalis held the view that one should rely on the knees unless it causes hardship. The Malikis and Shafi'is, however, maintained that one should rely on the palms and fingers, because the hadith of grasping (al-qabd) is weak. Some scholars interpreted the hadith of grasping to mean "kneading" (al-ʿajn), which refers to relying on the ground.
