What would be the state of people, their behavior, and their natures if God had not sent a messenger or a prophet until this very day? Would they possess modesty, humanity, ethics, or mercy, and would they have intellect?

Intelligent people may discover some good qualities, and there may be disbelievers who boast of chastity, modesty, and avoidance of indecencies. The Arabs before Islam had good morals, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, came to perfect and refine them, for he said: "I was sent only to perfect noble character."
