What is the ruling on our current behavior, considering that what is uttered by a person suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder concerning divorce is a mere inner thought, especially since the wife does not hear explicit divorce pronouncements from him? And is it obligatory for us to ask her to confirm, knowing that my questioning might stir up problems?

Divorce does not occur merely by an inner monologue. If the husband doubts uttering the divorce due to his psychological state, then divorce does not occur because the marriage is عقدed with certainty and is not dissolved by doubt, especially if the wife confirms that he did not pronounce it. Divorce does not occur if the husband uttered it involuntarily or was unaware of what he was saying due to his psychological state, based on the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Indeed, Allah has pardoned for my Ummah their mistakes, their forgetfulness, and what they are forced to do."
