It is permissible for the worshiper to pray four cycles (rak'ahs) in the night prayer with one salutation (). It is also legislated for him to pray Witr with five continuous cycles, and it is preferable for him to perform all of them consecutively, pronounce the in the fifth, and then conclude with the salutation.
