Is it permissible to supplicate regarding a specific matter without effort, and await Allah Almighty's response?

One must praise Allah for the blessing of abundant supplication (du'a), seeking forgiveness (istighfar), and remembrance (dhikr), for these are immense blessings. Supplication is the essence of worship, seeking forgiveness relieves worries and opens doors to provision, and remembrance revives the heart.

Supplicating alone, without directly pursuing material means, is not blameworthy, nor is its acceptance contingent upon taking such means. Supplication is a powerful cause for the fulfillment of desires. What is destined comes to pass through causes, and supplication is among the strongest causes for repelling calamities and achieving objectives.

Striving and employing permissible material means does not contradict supplication and reliance on Allah. The Muslim is commanded to take means but not to depend on them, for it is among Allah's ways to arrange results according to causes. Allah is the One who created both the cause and its effect. Attributing efficacy to causes is polytheism in monotheism, abandoning causes is a deficiency in intellect, and disregarding causes is a disparagement of the Sacred Law.
