What is the religious ruling regarding the fasting of a person who resides in Germany and works in a city 80 kilometers away, traveling daily 160-170 kilometers round trip, being awake from 7 AM until 8 PM, considering that the Fajr adhan is around 3:30 AM and the Maghrib adhan is around 9 PM?

The distance for qasr (shortening prayers) is four burd or eighty-three kilometers. This distance is calculated for the outward journey only, and from outside the city's built-up area. If the distance is less than that, then fasting is obligatory. Otherwise, breaking the fast is permissible for the traveler, due to the Almighty's saying: "And whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other days." Many scholars are of the opinion that fasting is better for the traveler who is able to do so.
