We recommend patience and seeking reward from Allah, and not to despair or complain about Allah's decree. The believer gives thanks in prosperity and shows patience in adversity. As for prayer, the more cautious approach for one who has lost both means of purification (water and earth) is to pray in their current state, and then repeat the prayer if they find water or earth (if the place is not predominantly wet) either within the time or afterward. Their initial prayer is for the sanctity of the time. As for fasting, if the illness is expected to be cured, then feeding the poor is not permissible. If doctors determine that there is no hope of recovery, then you must feed one poor person for each day. If you are unable, it remains a debt upon you until you are able. It is recommended for your relatives to feed the poor or fast on your behalf. It is permissible to seek assistance for treatment, as it is a request out of necessity.
