ما هو تعريف السنن؟

The Sunnah is linguistically defined as a method or way. In specialized terminology, its meaning varies depending on the field: - In theology (Aqeedah): It is the opposite of innovation (Bid'ah). - Among hadith scholars (Ahl al-Hadith): It refers to what has been narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, whether it be a saying, an action, an approval, a physical characteristic, or a moral attribute. - Among jurists of Islamic law (Usuliyyin): It refers to what has been narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, whether it be a saying, an action, or an approval, that is suitable as evidence for a legal ruling. - Among Islamic jurists (Fuqaha'): It refers to something commanded in a non-binding manner, or something the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did and openly displayed, and there is evidence indicating it is not obligatory.

The Sunnah is also referred to as "wisdom" in the Quran, as in the verse: "and teaches them the Book and wisdom" [Al Imran: 164].

As for the regular voluntary prayers (Sunan Ar-Ratibah), they are twelve rak'ahs: four before Dhuhr and two after it, two after Maghrib, two after Isha, and two before Fajr.
