What is the authenticity of the tradition that mentions that after the killing of John the Baptist (Yahya ibn Zakariyya), Allah revealed to one of His prophets, saying: "Until when will you dare to disobey My command and kill My messengers? Until when will I gather you under My wing, just as the hen gathers its chicks under its wing, yet you dare to transgress against Me?"

This narration was cited by Al-Suyuti in "Al-Durr Al-Manthur" from Khalid ibn Thabit Al-Rab'i. It was not found in Imam Ahmad's "Kitab Al-Zuhd," nor was a biography found for Khalid ibn Thabit Al-Rab'i, except for what Ibn Hajar mentioned, that he was among the Tabi'in (successors). It appears that this narration is from the Isra'iliyyat (Judeo-Christian traditions), because Khalid ibn Thabit used to read and transmit Isra'iliyyat. Therefore, it does not carry the ruling of being attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
