Is parrot droppings najis, and does it invalidate prayer if it falls on a person?

Scholars have differed on the ruling of eating parrots, with two views: The majority have permitted eating them, while the Shafi'is have stated their prohibition. They also differed on the ruling regarding the droppings of an edible animal: The Shafi'is, Abu Hanifa, and Abu Yusuf held it to be impure, whereas Malik and Ahmad held it to be pure.

Accordingly, in the view of the Shafi'is, Abu Hanifa, and Abu Yusuf, parrot droppings are impure. If they fall on clothing or the body during prayer, and it is possible to remove them immediately, the prayer is valid; otherwise, it is invalidated. As for the Malikis and Hanbalis, parrot droppings are pure, and the prayer is valid in all cases. Adopting the first view (the impurity of parrot droppings) is more cautious and more absolving of responsibility.
