Is it permissible for telecommunications and electricity companies to deal with those who trade in illicit things (such as qat, cigars, and radio stations that broadcast songs), knowing that governments do not cooperate in combating this and that prohibiting it may lead to damage to the company's properties? And would the company's earnings from this type of activity be unlawful?

It is not permissible for telecommunications or electricity companies to assist anyone in disobeying Allah the Almighty, due to His saying: "And do not cooperate in sin and aggression." This includes companies that are based on manufacturing prohibited items, such as cigarettes, or radio stations that broadcast songs and immoral films. The wealth acquired through these means is forbidden and must be disposed of by the companies by spending it on the interests of Muslims. There is no difference in this matter whether the company is in a country subject to a regular government or without a government.
