What is the ruling on saying, "Allah is angry with me," due to a lack of success in most matters?

It is not permissible for a servant to definitively assert that Allah is angry with him, due to the absence of conclusive proof, as Allah Almighty says: "And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge." However, one should fear Allah's wrath, just as the righteous predecessors feared it. Affliction is not proof of Allah's wrath, as it may befall the righteous. A believer must fear Allah's deception (makr) and strive to amend his condition, and he may say: "I fear that what is happening to me is from Allah's wrath."
