Is covering the upper part of the nose that shows through the narrow opening of the niqab obligatory, or is it merely recommended?

Scholars differ on the obligation for a woman to cover her face in front of non-mahram men when there is no fear of temptation. The fatwa adopted by us is that it is obligatory. There is no specific statement from scholars regarding the uncovering of the upper part of the nose. It appears that those who consider it obligatory for a woman to cover her entire body also deem it obligatory to cover the entire face except for the eyes, out of necessity. Some scholars have narrated opinions indicating the sufficiency of covering most of the face or half of it, such as the sayings of Ibn Abbas, Qatadah, and Al-Hasan. Therefore, the more cautious approach is to cover the entire face except for the eyes.
