Can the intense love for children that the questioner feels be from God, and did God create Him for children, and is there any evidence for that in the Qur’an and Sunnah?

Mercy and tenderness towards young children are innate, and Islamic law encourages them. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, kissing Al-Hasan and Al-Hussein indicates the importance of this, and his saying, "He who does not show mercy will not be shown mercy," and "Do I have power if Allah has removed mercy from your hearts?" indicates that not kissing children is due to hardness of heart. If love is compassion and mercy, then it is good and a sign of a soft heart. But if it is accompanied by lust, then it is a great sin that must be avoided.
