You did well to repent from a forbidden relationship with your colleague, as it was a sin against Allah and a transgression against your husband, whom you should have protected in his absence. If the conditions for repentance are met, there is no legal punishment upon you. However, beware of causes of temptation in the future.

As for your ex-husband, it suffices to supplicate and seek forgiveness for him, and to remember him kindly. We advise your ex-husband, if he comes to know of the sincerity of your repentance, to strive to forget the past and to reunite with you if possible. There is no objection to hoping for reconciliation.

If reunion is not possible, then ask your Lord for a righteous husband and seek help from trustworthy individuals in your search, as this is permissible in Islamic law.

We point out that divorce in exchange for compensation is irrevocable, and reconciliation would require a new marriage contract. Islamic law encourages concealment and not exposing a sinner unless there is an overriding benefit.
