What is the criterion for estimating the financial capability required for marriage, and what is its priority compared to caring for one's mother? And what is the criterion for the lust that obligates marriage, taking into account the materialistic nature of society?
Marriage is a Prophetic Sunnah, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, encouraged young people to marry and inspired them by saying: "O young people, whoever among you can afford it, let him marry, for it helps him lower his gaze and guard his chastity. And whoever cannot afford it, let him fast, for it will be a shield for him." "Al-Ba'ah" here includes the ability to engage in sexual intercourse and the financial means for marriage. If you cannot afford the expenses of marriage, then you must be patient and fast until Allah enriches you from His bounty. If you possess wealth and spend it on your mother, and she has enough for her needs, then her sustenance is not obligatory upon you, and you should save for your marriage, especially if you fear falling into the forbidden. However, if she is in need, then her sustenance is obligatory upon you. In this case, try to combine the two good deeds by saving a small portion of money, or borrowing from charitable people without overburdening yourself. And seek a righteous woman who will assist you in this and do not be swayed by worldly appearances. Marriage is made easy for those who seek chastity, and Allah, the Exalted, has promised those who marry seeking chastity richness and assistance. The حد الشهوة (limit of desire) that necessitates marriage is the fear of falling into fornication or its مقدمات (preliminaries).
