It is permissible to marry a chaste woman from the People of the Book, but it is not permissible to marry a polytheist woman or an atheist woman until she believes. For a marriage to be valid, there are five conditions: the designation of the spouses, their consent, a guardian, two just witnesses, and the absence of impediments for both spouses. If the marriage is valid, the children born from it are legitimate. They are also considered legitimate if the marriage was invalid but believed to be permissible due to a misconception. Wealth acquired through permissible means is lawful and halal.
