Is the questioner considered divorced after her husband separated from her verbally without uttering an oath of divorce or having official papers?

If the legal contract, fulfilling all its conditions, has been concluded, then you are his wife. Documentation is not a condition for the validity of the contract, but rather for safeguarding rights. A husband divorcing without a reason of wrongdoing is disliked or even considered unlawful by some jurists. Mere separation is not considered a divorce unless the husband pronounces it, for the bond of marriage remains. Try to persuade him to reconsider the separation. If he insists, then entrust your affair to Allah, and ask Him to grant you someone better than him. In that case, he must then pronounce the divorce or write it with the intention of divorce.
