What is the ruling on a father's behavior when he curses his son with phrases such as: "May Allah take him away," "May Allah disgrace him," "May Allah not grant him success," or "May Allah put poison in your stomach," and what should the son do in response to that?

Your father is not permitted to curse you, even in jest, based on the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) saying: "Do not curse yourselves, nor curse your possessions, nor curse your children. For you may happen upon an hour when Allah grants what is asked, and He will answer you." If he curses you unjustly, it will not harm you, Allah willing. You must treat him with kindness and dutifulness, avoid being disobedient to him, and advise and remind him of Allah with gentleness and compassion. As for suicide, it is among the greatest sins, and you are not permitted to even think about it or attempt it. Likewise, you are not permitted to disown your father; instead, advise him and be patient until Allah relieves your distress.
