What is the punishment for someone who accuses another of sodomy and brings four witnesses to support the claim, while the accused desires to seek retribution for defamation?

Sodomy is one of the most heinous crimes, and its punishment is death by stoning for whoever is proven to have committed it, due to the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Whoever you find committing the act of the people of Lut, kill the one who does it and the one to whom it is done." Sodomy is proven by four upright witnesses who saw the act, like a kohl stick entering a kohl container. If this quorum is not met or one of the witnesses recants, the witnesses are liable for the حد القذف (punishment for false accusation – eighty lashes), and the punishment of stoning is dropped for the accused.
