Is dreaming of a promise from God considered a true promise, or is it merely a jumbled dream, and is it permissible to supplicate to see Paradise or the Houris in their true form in a dream?

Visions are of three types: The righteous vision is from Allah, and it is a good tiding of good, or a warning against evil, or assistance. It is sunnah to praise Allah for it. The bad dream is from Shaytan, and it is disliked. It is sunnah to seek refuge in Allah from it, to spit to one's left three times, not to speak of it, to turn over from one's side, and to pray two rak'ahs. And self-talk (confused dreams) is thinking about daily matters. The righteous vision is a part of the glad tidings of prophecy, and it may indicate steadfastness in obedience or an urging towards good. It is permissible for a Muslim to supplicate for seeing Paradise and the houris in a dream, and this is not considered an transgression in supplication because it is asking for something permissible, but seeing Paradise in a dream is not the real Paradise. It is better for the servant to supplicate for that which brings him closer to his Lord, leads him to Paradise, and keeps him away from the Fire.
