Is it true that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him, used to say "Allah Akbar" (Allah is the Greatest) when rising from Rukūʿ (bowing), then when Abu Bakr was late and learned of the Prophet's bowing, he praised Allah, so Jibreel descended with the words of Allah Almighty: "Allah hears those who praise Him," and that became the remembrance when rising from Rukūʿ?

The story of the praise attributed to Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, is not authentically established. Rather, what is established is the hadith of Rifa'ah al-Zurqi, where a man said behind the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, after he raised his head from bowing and said, "Allah hears the one who praises Him": "Our Lord, to You be praise, good, abundant, blessed praise." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then said: "I saw thirty-some angels vying with each other as to which of them would write it down first."

In another narration by Rifa'ah, he sneezed and said: "Praise be to Allah, much, good, blessed praise, blessed upon it, as our Lord loves and is pleased with." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then said: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, thirty-some angels raced to ascend with it."
