What is the ruling on naming a girl "Yara"?

The father should be mindful that the name is not religiously forbidden, does not carry a bad meaning, and is not exclusive to non-Muslims. The name "Yara" is considered reprehensible by some scholars because it is a non-Arabic name. The Permanent Committee advised against naming with it, as it is an imitation of non-Arabs. Sheikh Bakr Abu Zayd believes that foreign names originating from nations of disbelief are rejected linguistically and legally, and he prefers legitimate Arabic names.
