Must a father provide for his married son and the son's children if the son has stopped working because of his circumstances?
The father is not obligated to spend on his adult son who is able to earn a living, nor on his son's children, as their maintenance is the responsibility of their own father. The grandfather is only obligated to spend on them if their father is unable to earn a living due to illness or similar reasons. As for the son's wife, her maintenance is the responsibility of her husband. If he is unable (to provide), then she may spend on herself or dissolve the marriage contract due to insolvency. Her maintenance would then revert to her father if she is poor and unable to earn a living. The father is not obligated to spend on his son's wife.
