Is it permissible to recite the Quran and dedicate the reward for it to the deceased, and does it alleviate the torment of the grave for them?

The preponderant view is that it is permissible to recite the Qur’an and dedicate its reward to the deceased. Perhaps this will alleviate their torment, along with supplication, seeking forgiveness, and giving charity.
