What are the permissible profit limits after an author or inventor waives their rights to the printer or manufacturer?

Scholars have opined that there is no limit to profit that would make exceeding it unlawful. A merchant should be lenient in his dealings, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "May Allah have mercy upon a man who is lenient when he sells, when he buys, and when he demands payment."
