Is it permissible to photograph the deceased? Is it permissible to recite Al-Fatiha for a non-Muslim and to ask for mercy upon them after their death? And what should be said upon seeing the funeral of a non-Muslim?

Scholars have differed on the permissibility of depicting living beings with instruments (e.g., cameras), but they have agreed on its permissibility when there is a benefit. However, it is preferable to avoid it if there is no benefit. As for supplicating for a non-Muslim, reciting the Quran, and dedicating its reward to them, this is not permissible and will not benefit them, based on the words of the Almighty: "It is not for the Prophet and those who have believed to ask forgiveness for the polytheists, even if they were relatives, after it has become clear to them that they are inhabitants of Hellfire." If a Muslim sees a non-Muslim funeral, they should offer admonition and remember Allah Almighty, but without supplicating for the deceased.
