Is it permissible to display pictures of the deceased for the purpose of admonition and gaining insight, or is this considered uncovering what Allah has concealed and exposing the 'awrah of the deceased?

Encouraging the concealment of Muslims' faults, both living and dead, is an established principle; therefore, it is not appropriate to publish or display pictures of the deceased. It is commendable to cover the face and private parts of the deceased because their face may change at the time of death, and ignorant people might deny this or spread rumors about it. It was narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Whoever washes a deceased person and does not disclose anything about them will emerge from their sins as on the day their mother gave birth to them." And "Whoever washes a deceased person and covers them, Allah will cover their sins." This covering could mean concealing their private parts or concealing any undesirable signs that appear on them. It is desirable for the washer to mention what they liked about the deceased and not to speak of what they disliked, unless the deceased was an innovator who openly declared their innovation, in which case their disliked actions may be mentioned as a deterrent to people.
