What is the ruling on supplicating against oneself out of fear of falling into sin and incurring God's wrath?

It is not permissible to supplicate against oneself, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Do not supplicate against yourselves… lest you coincide with a moment from Allah in which He is asked for a bounty, and it is granted to you." What is incumbent upon someone who fears Allah's wrath due to sins is repentance and seeking forgiveness, and seeking Allah's help in getting rid of sins. It is not permissible to wish for death, no matter the circumstances, especially if it stems from discontent and impatience. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "None of you should wish for death due to a hardship that has befallen him. Rather, let him say: 'O Allah, keep me alive as long as life is good for me, and take my life if death is better for me.'"
