Is it permissible to use titles such as "So-and-so, may Allah sanctify his soul" for scholars?

In linguistics, "taqdis" (sanctification) means blessing and purification. Legally, it is permissible to supplicate for a person or a group using the phrase "May Allah sanctify his secret" (قدس الله سره) or "May Allah sanctify his soul and illuminate his resting place" (قدس الله روحه ونور ضريحه). A group of scholars, such as Al-Suyuti and Ibn Al-Qayyim, have commonly used these expressions.
