What is the difference between a foundling (laqīṭ) and an illegitimate child (ibn ḥarām), and is an illegitimate child cursed?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

A foundling (laqeet) is a child who was found abandoned and whose lineage is unknown, and he may or may not be the child of adultery. As for the child of adultery (ibn al-zina), he is a child born to parents who committed adultery. The statement that the child of adultery is cursed in this world is false and contrary to the words of Allah Almighty: "And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another."
