The foundling is an abandoned child, whether born of fornication or a valid marriage. The majority of jurists hold that a child born of fornication is not attributed to the fornicator. A man's daughter from fornication is not among his mahram (unmarriageable kin), so he is not permitted to be in seclusion with her or to look at her, but she is forbidden for him to marry.
