What is the ruling on money that comes from tips given to workers in restaurants?

If the motive behind this money is charity towards the workers due to their need and low salaries, then it is a good intention for which one will be rewarded. There is no harm for the workers in taking it, as long as it does not lead to deception of the employer, or favoritism towards customers, or anything that the owner of the shop would likely disapprove of.
