How is the Tahajjud prayer performed, and what is the reason for prolonging the bowing (ruku') and prostration (sujud) in the Grand Mosque of Makkah, and what is recited during them?

Tahajjud prayer consists of two rak'ahs at a time, and the Sunnah is to lengthen the bowing (rukūʿ) and prostration (sujūd) in it. In bowing, one says: "Subḥāna Rabbī al-ʿAẓīm (Glory be to my Lord, the Most Great)," and in prostration: "Subḥāna Rabbī al-Aʿlā (Glory be to my Lord, the Most High)." It is also recommended to combine glorification (tasbīḥ) with supplication (du'ā') for matters of this world and the Hereafter while in prostration.
