Eve was named by this name because she is the mother of all living human beings. It was narrated from Ibn Abbas that she was named Eve because she is the mother of every living creature. It was said that she bore Adam forty children in twenty pregnancies. The first person to name her by that name is unknown, and it might have been Adam, peace be upon him.
