Is it permissible to undergo a breast lift operation due to sagging caused by weight loss, out of fear that a future husband might think ill of her or turn his attention to other women?

It has been previously stated that cosmetic surgery is of two types: that which is permissible for treating a defect or removing a deformity, and that which is forbidden for mere beautification. If the procedure is to remove a defect caused by weight loss, then there is no harm in it, unless it leads to a greater harm. The Permanent Committee has issued a fatwa permitting cosmetic surgeries to remove defects if success is expected and no predominant harm results from them. Sheikh Ibn Baz permitted the treatment of congenital deformities or those resulting from accidents or diseases, using lawful and permissible means. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen issued a fatwa permitting cosmetic surgeries to remove defects, as long as they do not cause harm, citing the story of Arfajah, may Allah be pleased with him.
