What are my duties towards my mother who frequently desires to go out by car for recreation, and am I obligated to fulfill her request to go out most of the time, knowing that I serve her and she has a maid and a brother living with her?

The fundamental principle is that a woman is commanded to remain in her home, based on Allah’s Almighty saying: (And abide in your homes). Therefore, you should advise your mother to minimize going out and to utilize her free time in worshipping Allah, obeying Him, and being grateful to Him, as the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The feet of a servant will not move on the Day of Resurrection until he is asked about four things: about his life and how he spent it; about his knowledge and what he did with it; about his wealth and how he acquired it and how he spent it; and about his body and how he wore it out." And he said: "Two blessings which many people lose: health and free time."

There is no objection to going out with her for recreation and entertainment if she feels bored or distressed, provided that Islamic guidelines are adhered to, that it is with your husband's permission, and that it does not infringe upon his rights.

Be patient with your mother, treat her well, and attend to her needs as much as possible, for she is a commandment from Allah and His Messenger.
