What is meant by "مَئُونَةً" (burden/expense) in the Hadith: "The most blessed of women are those with the least مَئُونَةً"? Does this include the exorbitant costs of wedding ceremonies, such as halls, decorations, and invitation cards, which might affect the blessing of the marriage? And are the spouses responsible for the sin of men and women intermingling in the hall's courtyard?

The hadith (definition): "The most blessed of women are those who are least burdensome [in their dowries and expenses]," and "Verily, the most blessed of marriages are those that are least burdensome [in their expenses]." Scholars have differed regarding its authenticity; some have weakened it, while others have declared it hasan (definition) (good). The preponderant opinion is that it is a jayyid (good) hadith.

The meaning of the hadith encompasses the dowry (mahr) and expenses. The further a marriage is from extravagance, the more hopeful it is for blessing.

Extravagance is a relative matter that varies according to the financial situation of individuals.

If what the groom's family is doing is extravagant, it will not harm you both if you strive to reduce the dowry and expenses, and you do not ask for that extravagance or consent to it, for "no bearer of burdens shall bear another's burden."

The mixing of men and women at weddings is among the forbidden acts (munkarat), and it must be prevented if possible. If people overwhelm you, then there is no sin upon you.
