What is the ruling on building special halls for condolence gatherings for the people of the town to alleviate the burden on the bereaved?

It is from the Sunnah to offer condolences to the deceased's family, as narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "There is no believer who consoles his brother in affliction but that Allah, the Exalted, will clothe him with garments of honor on the Day of Resurrection." And condolences do not involve gatherings, ceremonies, or elaborate efforts, for all of that is an innovation. The righteous predecessors would console each other upon meeting anywhere. As for building halls for the gathering of those offering condolences, that is an innovation, due to the statement of Jarir ibn Abdullah al-Bajali, may Allah be pleased with him: "We used to consider gathering at the deceased's family's home and preparing food after burial to be a form of wailing."
