Must the two sisters resort to the courts to demand their inheritance rights after their brother's procrastination, or should they preserve kinship ties despite his lack of response?

It is not obligatory to go to court, but if your maternal uncle insists on preventing your mother and her sister from inheriting their share, they have every right to go to the Sharia court to reclaim their right. This is not considered severing ties of kinship; rather, the one who endeavors to prevent them is the oppressor and the one who severs ties of kinship. Nevertheless, this should not be a reason for severing ties between them and their brother. We emphasize that the claim by some common folk that women do not inherit is false, for women do inherit, and Allah has ordained their share in His saying: "For men is a share of what the parents and close relatives leave, and for women is a share of what the parents and close relatives leave, be it little or much - a share ordained."
