What is the ruling on waiving inheritance due to embarrassment or shyness?

Waving one's share of an inheritance out of shyness or coercion does not make it permissible for the one to whom it is waived, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "The property of a Muslim person is not lawful unless given with his willing consent."
