What is the ruling on someone to whom Satan whispers during prayer that he is worshipping something else, so he senses the presence of Allah and says to himself, "This is the shadow of Allah," then says, "I worship the shadow of Allah," then says, "I worship Allah"? And what should he do if his intention in his heart changes due to obsessive-compulsive disorder? Should he renew his intention or continue in the state that Allah has ordained for him?

We ask Allah for your swift recovery from obsessive thoughts. Disregarding them and distracting yourself from them are among the most effective means of treatment. Pay no attention to what comes to you during your prayer; continue with it, for it is valid. Do not allow Satan to keep you away from the worship of your Lord. Continue with your medical treatment and consult doctors. Read the Quran, and frequently remember Allah, supplicate to Him, and seek His help.
