Is it correct to say at the beginning of each circuit of Tawaf and Sa'i: "There is no god but Allah" three times, and "Allah is the greatest" three times, then sending blessings upon the Prophet and supplicating? And what is the ruling if he only limited himself to the tahlil (saying "La ilaha illallah") without the takbir (saying "Allahu akbar")?

The supplications (dhikr) mentioned for circumambulation (Tawaf) and ritual brisk walking (Sa'i) are numerous. The best of these are those established from the Prophet (peace be upon him), and it is permissible to add to them.

Among the supplications for Tawaf: 1. One begins the circumambulation by saying "Allahu Akbar" (Allah is the Greatest) when in line with the Black Stone. It is recommended to say: "Bismillah, Wallahu Akbar, Allahumma Imanan bika wa tasdiqan bikitabika, wa wafa'an bi'ahdika, wattiba'an li-sunnati nabiyyika sallallahu alayhi wa sallam" (In the name of Allah, Allah is the Greatest. O Allah, out of faith in You, belief in Your Book, fulfillment of Your covenant, and adherence to the Sunnah of Your Prophet, peace be upon him). 2. In the first three rounds (Ramal - brisk walking): "Allahummaj'alhu hajjan mabruran wa dhanban maghfuran, wa sa'yan mashkuran" (O Allah, make it an accepted Hajj, a forgiven sin, and an appreciated effort). 3. In the remaining four rounds: "Allahumma aghfir warham, wa'fu amma ta'lam, wa Antal-A'azzul-Akram. Allahumma Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah wa fil-akhirati hasanah wa qina adhaban-nar" (O Allah, forgive and have mercy, and pardon what You know, for You are the Most Mighty, the Most Generous. O Allah, our Lord, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire). 4. Between the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone: "Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah wa fil-akhirati hasanah wa qina adhaban-nar" (Our Lord, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire).

Among the supplications for Sa'i: 1. At Safa and Marwa: Recite: "Indeed, Safa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah," then say "Allahu Akbar" and supplicate with: "La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa huwa ala kulli shayin qadir. La ilaha illallahu wahdahu anjaza wa'dah, wa nasara abdah, wa hazamal-ahzaba wahdah" (There is no god but Allah alone, He has no partner. To Him belongs all sovereignty and all praise, and He is over all things competent. There is no god but Allah alone, He fulfilled His promise, granted victory to His servant, and defeated the confederates alone), three times, then supplicate with whatever one wishes. 2. When walking between Safa and Marwa: "Rabbi aghfir warham wa tajawaz amma ta'lam innaka Antal-A'azzul-Akram. Allahumma atina fid-dunya hasanah, wa fil-akhirati hasanah wa qina adhaban-nar" (My Lord, forgive and have mercy, and overlook what You know, for You are the Most Mighty, the Most Generous. O Allah, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire). 3. Reciting the Holy Quran is also good.

It is recommended to recite many of the reported supplications. It is permissible to use booklets that verify the authentic supplications. For those who have memorized them, it is better to rely on what they have memorized to ensure humility and presence of heart.
