Is using booklets that contain supplications for Tawaf and Sa'i considered a Bid'ah (innovation), or is the pilgrim free to supplicate with whatever he wishes?

The fundamental principle regarding supplication during circumambulation (Tawaf) and striving (Sa'i) is that a person may supplicate with whatever they desire. However, it is preferable to follow the Sunnah:

- Tawaf: It begins with saying "Allahu Akbar" (God is Greatest) at the Black Stone. It is recommended to say: "In the name of Allah, Allah is the Greatest. O Allah, out of faith in You, belief in Your Book, fulfillment of Your covenant, and in imitation of the Sunnah of Your Prophet, peace be upon him," when aligning with the Black Stone in each round. During the brisk walk (ramal), it is said: "O Allah, make it a righteous Hajj, a forgiven sin, and an appreciated striving." In the remaining rounds, it is said: "O Allah, forgive and have mercy, and pardon what You know, for You are the Most Mighty, the Most Generous. O Allah, our Lord, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire." It is recommended to supplicate between the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone with: "Our Lord, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire."

- Sa'i: Upon ascending Mount Safa and Mount Marwa, one recites: "Indeed, Safa and Marwa are among the symbols of Allah." Then, it is said: "There is no god but Allah alone, He has no partner. To Him belongs all sovereignty and all praise, and He is over all things competent. There is no god but Allah alone. He fulfilled His promise, supported His servant, and defeated the confederates alone." Then, one supplicates with whatever they desire, repeating this three times. During the going and returning between Safa and Marwa, it is said: "My Lord, forgive and have mercy and overlook what You know, for You are the Most Mighty, the Most Generous. O Allah, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire."

It is recommended to frequently recite the reported supplications, and it is permissible to use reliable booklets. However, it is better to rely on what one has memorized for the humility of the heart.
