Is it permissible to name a daughter "Meera"?

There is no objection to naming a child "Mira" if the 'M' is pronounced with a fatḥah (Mīra), as it is a verbal noun meaning "bringing provisions or food." However, if the 'M' is pronounced with a kasrah (Mīra), it is considered a foreign name. The permissibility of naming with it then depends on knowing its meaning and ensuring that it does not carry a blameworthy meaning in Islamic law.
