If a man pronounces divorce while his mind is overwhelmed by extreme anger, then his divorce is not effective. However, if his anger does not reach the point of losing his mind, then his divorce is effective. Divorcing a menstruating woman is an innovative (bid'ah) and forbidden divorce, but most scholars are of the opinion that the divorce of a menstruating woman is effective, and this is the fatwa given. In the case of an effective divorce, if the man says: "You are divorced, divorced, divorced," and he intended emphasis, it is accepted from him. If he intended to repeat the divorces, then three divorces occur. If he did not intend anything, only one divorce occurs. The husband can take his wife back before the expiry of her 'iddah if the divorce was less than three.
