What is the ruling of Islam regarding the situation of a woman who has been intellectually separated from her husband for eight years, has five children with him whom she supports, and is she considered divorced, and is it permissible for her to marry another man despite the absence of an administrative divorce?

If the husband's insanity is established and the wife is harmed by remaining with him, she is permitted to refer her case to the judge, who may divorce her from him after a one-year postponement. If he does not recover during this period, she is given the choice between remaining with him or divorce. If the husband, while insane, pronounces a divorce, the divorce is invalid.
