Is it permissible to close the gap between the front teeth using medical procedures if it is not for a necessary treatment, given the existence of conflicting fatwas regarding its permissibility?

The ظاهر (apparent meaning) of the texts indicates the prohibition of altering Allah’s creation for the sake of beauty, whether by thinning the teeth (تفليج الأسنان) or filling gaps between them. This is supported by Allah’s saying: "And I will surely command them, and they will alter the creation of Allah," and the hadith: "May Allah curse the women who tattoo and those who have themselves tattooed, and those who thin the teeth for beauty, altering the creation of Allah." Al-Tabari mentioned that this alteration is not permissible for a woman seeking to enhance her beauty. Accordingly, sincere repentance is obligatory for what has occurred, but it is not obligatory to remove the filling of the gap, because some Malikis explicitly stated that it is not obligatory to remove tattoos, while the Shafi'is made it obligatory unless there is a need for wounding.
