What is the ruling on photographic imaging of animate beings, and has any recognized scholar permitted it, and what are their fatwas and evidence?

"Photographic imagery has been previously discussed in fatwas 14967 and 33744. These fatwas mention the different opinions and the evidence for each side. One can also refer to the books "Ahkam at-Tasweer" by Muhammad Wasil and "Hukm Mumārasat al-Fann" by Salih al-Ghazali, as they both present the various opinions and their sources.
