What is the ruling on sacrifices slaughtered by people most of whom do not pray and curse the religion?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

One who reviles the religion of Islam and does not repent—his slaughtered animal is considered carrion due to his apostasy. As for one who abandons prayer, if his abandonment is due to laziness and not a complete renunciation, his slaughtered animal may be eaten. However, if he is a complete abandoner of prayer, the preponderant opinion among scholars is that he is thereby a disbeliever, and consequently, his slaughtered animal may not be eaten.
